Missions and Outreach

Our Involvement

UBC strives to enable our members to fulfill the great commission.

In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus commands, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.” Therefore we seek to provide mission opportunities locally, nationally, and internationally.

We also have a number of ways that we give to missions financially as a part of our regular budget. When a person plugs into UBC and starts giving and serving, he immediately becomes part of the global mission of Christ.

Community Pregnancy Center

We support the Middletown Community Pregnancy Center because of its passion to defend the unborn and help mothers in difficult situations. Their mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, uphold the sanctity of human life, promote sexual purity for all, and care for those hurt by abortion. This focus fits very closely with the purpose of our church. Because the mission of the CPC is so close to the heart of UBC, we financially contribute to their efforts and encourage our members to be involved.

When CPC counselors share the gospel with clients, people have the opportunity to come to know Christ and our counselors grow closer to him by “being Jesus” to those in need. Through volunteering with the CPC, UBC members experience the thrill of helping those in need, leading individuals to Christ, and overcoming obstacles to sharing their faith with others.

No-Sew Blankets

Provides No-Sew Blankets to the Atrium Medical Center Emergency Room to hand out to young children to provide comfort in a time of distress. A CHAOS service project during 310 weekend, supplemented by other UBC members throughout the year. UBC volunteers cut out, assemble, package the No-Sew Blankets and pray for those receiving a blanket. A note wishing the child and their family well and a speedy recovery is included.

Love Packages

UBC sends used educational materials (primarily Sunday School literature) to Love Packages. Love packages serves the body of Christ around the world by supplying Bibles, books, and Sunday School literature that is unobtainable in their countries. A UBC volunteer collects UBC’s used and left over literature and prepares it for pick up by a Love Package’s representative.

Disaster Relief

Several UBC members participate with the CABA Mud Out Team. This team travels to disaster areas within the United States when requested to help victims of flooding. In addition to cleaning flood residue, removing damaged possessions and drywall, the Mud Out Team witnesses to the homeowners and provides them with a copy of the Bible.

Disaster relief efforts also provide food service, child care, chain saw teams, communications, chaplains, and shower units.

Gulf Shores, Alabama

For the past several years, CHAOS student ministry and their adult leadership have been on mission in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This trip, not only meets a number of missional objectives, but provides our young people a tremendous opportunity to grow in serving Christ.

Activities included:

    • leading several worship services by providing the music and sermon
    • witnessing to people they meet at the beach, in the park and other places
    • leading back yard Bible clubs
